How to Connect Your iPhone to Your TV

While the iPhone can be a fantastic media player, sometimes the screen is just too small.

In this article, we will explain how to connect your iPhone or iPad to almost any HDTV.

Connect With a Cable

The simplest way to connect your iPhone or iPad to your TV is to use an HDMI cable and a Digital AV Adapter. Once connected, your TV will mirror the iPhone's screen, so you can play your iTunes or Netflix videos at the touch of a button.

Apple AirPlay

If you don’t want to look at wires hanging across your living room, you can also connect wirelessly via Apple’s AirPlay feature. This is available on Apple TVs or TVs that support AirPlay 2. This is not ideal for crowded Wi-Fi environments, as the AirPlay video won’t stream continuously.

Android TV Stick or Chromecast

By plugging an Android-powered TV stick in the back of your TV, you can install the Kodi media server app and the stick will be set up to display unprotected music and videos from the apps on your iPhone using the AirPlay button. This option does not support screen mirroring or protected video streaming. We do not recommend this approach as the sticks can be slow and unreliable.

DLNA App

With an internet-enabled TV, you can install DLNA, which is a form of media streaming. This will enable you to download an app to stream unprotected music and videos... It will not work on purchased items as these are subject to legal limitations.
